Creating a Multiple Choice Formative Assessment Using the Edmodo Quiz Feature
FEATURES I LIKE:
- It's free.
- Ease of use.
- The exam has a title.
- It can be timed.
- The number of set question prompts is unlimited.
- The number of responses per question can be varied.
- Each question can be worth a different amount of marks.
- The teacher can set which is the correct answer.
- The question prompt can include a weblink or a file.
- The question order can be changed while setting the exam.
- The responses can include a weblink or a file.
- The results can be shown to the student.
- The questions can be randomized.
- The quiz can be saved for future use.
- It can be previewed (The teacher can see how it looks to the student).
- It can be printed..... but the A, B, C is not shown (see my printscreen below).
- The possibility exists for the student to re-take the test, as long as their previous attempt was deleted by the teacher.
- The student can move back and forth between the questions and change their answers within the allotted time.
- The quiz resides in the LMS (learning management system) we use for class already.
- Equations can be inserted using LaTeX.
WHAT I WISH WAS BETTER:
- You can only choose either a weblink or a file for the question prompt/ response. It would have been nice if both could be chosen.
- The possibility for the responses to be randomized.
- The attached file name is shown. The examiner should keep this in mind to not have the answer in the file name.
- Diagrams/Pictures are not immediately seen. The student would have to click to open up the file, which can be time consuming. Also, if the students have a slow internet connection this has proven to be problematic.
- The test cannot be shared with other teachers for their use.
